As a completely independent practice, we are 100% physician-owned and have no private equity or venture capitalist involvement, keeping control in our own hands to make the best decisions for our people, our patients and our business. Dr. Sabbagh completed his anesthesiology residency and pain medicine fellowship at Wayne State University and currently works at McLaren Oakland Hospital, where he is also part of the faculty who works with anesthesia residents.

He says “anesthesia is a humbling field that requires constant vigilance and empathy for patients when they are most vulnerable.” He enjoys working as part of AMS as it offers him the best opportunity to perform at his best, saying “the group is run by doctors who know the practice of medicine and the business of anesthesia, which provides valuable insight.”

When he’s not working, Dr. Sabbagh enjoys exercising and playing golf, along with reading. 

Dr. Ghanem attended Wayne State University for his anesthesia residency and pain medicine fellowship, before joining AMS where he serves as Chief of Anesthesiology at Ascension Macomb and Oakland Hospitals. He also works at McLaren Port Huron and McLaren Oakland hospitals, along with Surgeon’s Choice Medical Centers.

He says about anesthesia that “every day brings varying complexities and challenges. I have always loved the exposure to all aspects of medicine. As medicine is an evolving science, anesthesiologists are frontline to these changes, working with all subspecialties.” He was drawn to AMS’s collective work ethic and passion for the profession and says he most enjoys that AMS allows its current and aspiring leaders the autonomy to build relationships with partnering facilities to provide solutions to the ever-changing practice of medicine.

Away from work, Dr. Ghanem spends time with friends and loved ones, and his one true passion of golf. He also plays tennis, hikes and hunts.

Joe received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Michigan State University, which he followed up with a Master of Science from University of Michigan. As Director of Operations at AMS, he oversees all the CRNAs who work within the group, as well as works at McLaren Flint Hospital and Surgery Center, Lakes Surgery Center, Surgeons Choice Medical Centers and McLaren Bay Region Hospital and Pain Clinic.
 
He says he most loves anesthesia for the direct impact it has on patients’ outcomes, and being able to help patients and their families feel safe going into surgery. For him, the benefits of AMS are found in the roots within the community that it serves. It’s a small private group without layers of management to tangle up decision making. If a staff member has a suggestion, the senior leadership is able to quickly act on it.
 
Aside from work, Joe enjoys watching his children play sports. He also has a small garden and a few beehives he tends to.
Michael attended Wayne State University for his medical training before joining AMS, where he is the Director of Ambulatory Operations and works at McLaren Oakland Hospital, McLaren Flint Surgery Center, Surgeons Choice Medical Center, Lakes Surgery Center and The Surgery Center-Flint.
 
His favorite part of anesthesia is caring for patients and families throughout the perioperative period and the challenges faces in the safe and vigilant delivery of anesthesia. He says he enjoys the benefits of being associated with a private group like AMS, his interactions with colleagues and working to build an anesthesia group against which all others are measured.
 
In his free time, you’ll find him enjoying all aspects of the outdoors, including fly fishing, hunting and playing golf. He’s an avid music fan and plays the guitar. And most of all, he enjoys his time with family and friends.
Dr. Roberts completed his anesthesia residency at POH Regional Medical Center and is now AMS’ Chief Medical Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. He works at a variety of locations, including The Surgery Center - Flint, McLaren Port Huron Hospital, McLaren Flint Hospital, and Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital (Madison Heights and Warren campuses).
 
He loves practicing anesthesia for helping others in need, sometimes through the best or worst day of their lives. He says Anesthesia Management Services has great peers and colleagues, great benefits and the work is both fair and honest.
 
When he’s not working, he spends time with his family and on fitness activities.
